Gonzo eats Bush

Hunter S. Thompson has written a raging piece in 'Rolling Stone' about the US election. It's refreshing to see such free-flowing anger in action, with a raw, unrevised feel about it. Gut writing. Vital writing. It reminds me of that scene in 'Manhattan' when the Woody Allen character (funny how difficult it often is to remember the names of his characters in his films) is at the Lincoln Center or something for an opening and mentions there is a Nazi rally in Central Park. One of the other guests mutters 'There was a devastating editorial in the Times'. Woody says something along the lines of 'I think bricks and baseball bats make more of an impression on these guys.' Thompson is not exactly hitting Bush with a baseball bat but there is a sense in the piece that he might relish the opportunity. It's here.
