Nietzsche writes, in a letter to his amanuensis Peter Gast written in 1881,

I think of myself as the scrawl which an unknown power scribbles across a sheet of paper, to try out a new pen.

As with so many of Nietzsche's remarks and aphorisms, this seems a remarkably modern sentiment.

I'm flicking through his work now to see what he says about the Iraq war.
