Do we care if we're lied to?

My first reaction, on seeing Blair's security plans outlined in yesterday's Queen's Speech, was to scream out loud in frustration. "Didn't he watch The Power of Nightmares?" I thought. Of course, it took only a few moment to realise that he did. What he can be sure of, as he ploughs along the same fear-based route to another term navigated previously by the joke in the White House, is that not enough of the elctorate will have watched it.
So fear of the mythical Al-Quaeda is now the controlling aspect of even domestic politics. It's worth Blair remembering that:
At some point, the lies of the Bush and Blair goverments will return to haunt them. Unfortunately, it seems that many more soldiers and innocent Iraquis will die before the two Bs are buzzed from office.
So fear of the mythical Al-Quaeda is now the controlling aspect of even domestic politics. It's worth Blair remembering that:
a) the parts of the US that suffered attack on September 11 voted overwhelmingly to remove Bush
b) the Spanish electorate removed Aznar not because of the bombings in Madrid but because the government lied about the bombings
