Let's do the time warp

I commuted this morning. For the first time in over two years I walked to the station and got on a train to London. After two years as a freelance writer I have started an IT contract back where I spent about a dozen years of my life.
I recognised many of the faces on the platform, which is a bit scary. The majority have probably been getting that train every day while I've been away. I think they sat in the same places in the carriage, too. My task will be to shake things up by sitting somewhere different every dayand forcing people to move.
At the office I see they've got the same old coffee mugs (blue and orange) but they seem a bit chipped and marked, now. I remember when they were shiny and new and seemed splendidly garish.
The job involves identity and authentication, which is why I have been reading Kim Cameron's blog lately. It's this sort of stuff that makes IT worth swapping my home office for a desk in town.
