The BBC has a short piece on the doc and his suicide today.

I remember my friend John Wyldes giving me a copy of 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas' back in the 70s. The image of sucking sheets of acid-soaked blotting paper stayed with me. Enough so, that I never succumbed to the temptation to try it. Handfuls of pills, too, never appealed. But the drinking, now that's another story.
